// Wow, what a busy week. Intersolar just ended yesterday, and we've already had 3 tours from people we met at the conference. We hope there are many more to come! We'd like to thank Nicholas Wagner and Diana Doppe for their support and letting us attend. Additionally, we'd like to remind everyone that tours of the site are available and to click here for more information.
// Our GD team, finished the blog! You can now see what we are doing on a daily basis. Every week we will show what has changed in the house, via our Photobucket account. Also, blogs from earlier in the summer will also be available. Keep updated!
// Today is the first day of tour training! Although it is a time commitment, it will help everyone talk with ease in front of crowds. To improve performance during the tours in DC, we have begun training that first works on the way we speak and then what type of image we portray to the public. Plus everyone is so involved in the house and everyone knows so much about it, it is hard to step back and see the simple truths of the house. Keep updated as we will soon begin uploading videos of the training.
// Energy Solutions is blowing our insulation donated by Demilec. It is called SEALECTION Agribalance and is made of refined vegetable oils. With our thickness of (1,2,3,3.5,4,5) inches the R value is (4.45,8.9,13.3,15.6,17.8) ˚F*ft2*h/btu. R value is a measurement of thermal resistance, so the higher the R value the better the insulation. Glass wool batting insulation has an R value of about 3.5 ˚F*ft2*h/btu for each inch.
// The 70 inch shower drain was installed today and our plumbing inspection was approved! Yipee! The first rail for roof racking was installed. Windows are going in! The clear story windows above the mech room are there. The TV and data cables are wired. Although everyone has been working their bottoms off, we are still a week behind but hopefully we will be able to catch up by the 6th because the installation guy is coming on Tuesday.
